The Ampleforth Abbey Tearoom

The Tea Room, furnished with the famous " Mousey Thompson "  tables, is situated in the Lower Guest Refectory, in the main hall of the Central Building. It provides a welcome respite and nourishing refreshments. We welcome visitors to enjoy our delicious home made produce, scones, cakes, paninis, ice cream and light meals all made onsite using fresh local ingredients. Fr Rainer's cider cake is exceptional!

We are open at the following times:

Monday -  Saturday   10am until 5.30pm.

Sunday                        12 noon until 5.30pm.

Fr Rainer’s Apple Cake     
Traditional upside down cake made with apples from our orchard and Fr Rainer's cider.                                                         

Ampleforth Vanilla & Fudge Cheesecake            
Fr Hugh's cheesecake with crumbled fudge and fresh vanilla pods.                                                                                        

Pear & Almond Tart     
An old Ampleforth recipe of crisp pastry base filled with pears and topped with almonds.                                                    

Chocolate Fudge Cake
Three sumptuous layers of moist cake combined with rich chocolate fudge topped with milk and white chocolate flakes- one for the chocolate lover!
