Iona Pilgrimage 2009

Led by Fr Bede Leach OSB

Duration: 7 days

Dates: Thursday 20th August - Wednesday 26th August

Cost: £630-£765 (breakdown on application)

It is so important to jump off the treadwheel of our busy lives and make time for quiet, prayer and contemplation.  To listen to our consciousness for a better understanding of ourselves, to listen and be enriched by the diversity of other people, and to listen to God.  What better way than join a pilgrimage to Iona – the beautiful island of St Columba – where you can share five days on the island with a group of similar minded people with the same goal.

The days are relaxed with a walk to a different part of the island each day and there is an optional boat trip to Staffa to Fingal’s Cave. There is daily Mass in the House of Prayer and a talk in the evening after supper and all the arrangements for travel and accommodation are made for you.  The main party leaves by minibus from Ampleforth early on Thursday morning, but it is also possible to join the group in Oban. The pilgrimage will be led by Fr Bede who will be assisted by Jan Jones.

Some comments from participants in previous years:

"I find myself having Iona moments….just lost in thought and memories"

"I remember when we first met, you asked me why I had decided to go on this pilgrimage and you suggested that perhaps it was not solely my decision.   I have thought a lot about this!"

"I want you to know your Iona pilgrimage really changed my life; I am learning how to bring Truth into my daily life.."
