Alban Roe House

Groups are welcome to book retreats at Ampleforth and school groups in particular will find ideal accommodation in Alban Roe House, the former Junior School, situated at the west end of the campus with magnificent views over the valley. The House can be used for residential or day groups and is available throughout the year.

The Chapel in the House is dedicated to St Alban Roe, a member of the Community, who was martyred in the 17th century.

Accommodation is in five dormitories sleeping up to 10 people and there are two staff/leader rooms. All bedding is provided but guests are requested to bring their own towels.

Facilities include a spacious common room with TV, DVD and video and two large meeting/conference rooms. There is also a games room with ping pong and a pool table. Hot drinks can be made in the kitchenette. There are lavatories on the ground floor and there is a ground floor bedroom which is suitable for wheelchair users.

Two large magnificent lawns are located in front of the House for group activities and games.

Adjacent to Alban Roe House is a large car park suitable for minibuses and coaches.

Meals are provided in the Upper Guest Refectory. (see Campus Plan for directions) Our catering team are happy to cater for special diets.
