Ampleforth Abbey is home to a community of Catholic Benedictine monks of the English Benedictine Congregation.
A Benedictine monastery is a centre for spirituality, education, pastoral work and evangelisation and that continues to be our mission today.
We receive guests in the spirit of St Benedict who wrote in his rule for monks: "Let all guests be received like Christ, who will say 'I came as a guest and you received me'".
Seeking God through a life of prayer is at the heart of monastic life and our guests are welcome to share in this during their stay.
Our aim is to provide opportunities for quiet listening, reflection and learning in the peaceful environment of a 21st century monastery.
